Got Pain? Try This!

June 6, 2014

In a recent study published in the Journal of Pain, ginger was found to be an extremely effective pain reliever. Ginger has been shown to have powerful anti-inflammatory properties that are great for many different types of aches and pains.  This shouldn't be too surprising as ginger has been used for thousands of years but nonetheless, this is great news.

How to Use Ginger for Pain Relief

So lets get practical, if ginger is effective for relieving pain, how do you use it?  Well, there are several different ways that you can use ginger but in this article, I will share one simple method that you can use.  For thousands of years, various healing herbs such as ginger have been used in different teas and tinctures for a variety of ailments.

One easy way that you can use ginger for pain relief is to make a ginger-based tea.  Its quite simple, just take a 2-3 inch piece of ginger and chop it into several smaller pieces.  Place these into a pot with around a quart of water.  Bring this to a boil for around 30-60 minutes and add in a few drops of Stevia to help sweeten it a bit.  One cool way that you can add a little variety to your ginger tea is to add a flavored Stevia into it.  Sweet Drops makes a variety of different flavors and this would be a great way to create different flavors.  You can check them out here.  My personal favorite is the coconut flavored sweet drops.

Your New Go-To Pain Reliever

With all of the potentially harmful side-effects associated with typical over-the-counter pain relievers such as Advil and Tylenol, consider making up a batch of ginger tea each week and keeping it on hand in your refrigerator.  Drinking 2-3 glasses of this tea when you are experiencing pain can be a great alternative to downing your typical pain reliever drugs without the harmful side-effects.

What Else?

If you have been experiencing pain for a while and natural remedies such as this don't seem to be working, it might be because there is an underlying problem that requires some more attention. If you are in this situation, call our clinic today to set up an evaluation or a free consultation.
